Print International students disciples of Gutenberg:
Traditional printer’s baptizing
July 2016

According to a medieval German tradition, this year’s students from India, Jordan and Lebanon were „baptized as disciples of Gutenberg”, the inventor of the art of printing after having graduated from the unique private school for printing, media and paper-converting in Biberach, Southern Germany. Equipped with the Hauchler Studio Diploma for extraordinary results as well as the traditional „letter of baptizing“ the trainees were ducked several times in the cold tub by master printers to symbolically wash away the sins of apprenticeship. Moreover, they had to do the medieval swear to lead a virtous life as disciples“ of the graphic art. Since the beginning of the 70s, Hauchler Studio trains students from foreign countries in German as well as in English language. With generations of students from 116 countries, the school plays an important role as a pacesetter in vocational training. With its English-speaking training courses Print International, Hauchler Studio aims at skilled workers of the International Graphic industry. The students have participated in a 1-year Training Course Print Total combining Offset Printing, Electronic Publishing and Basics of Management. Price-winner of the Offset Operating course 2016 was Aamir Kherani from India with extraordinary results. The course has a practical approach with focus on training at machines taking into account state-of-the-art technology and techniques. It includes quality control and standardisation in offset and digital printing as well as press-make-ready, adjustments, trouble-shooting and optimizing the printing process, postpress, job planning, various software programs and data handling as well as calculation and cost accounting jobs. The students have participated in many excursions and got an individual scope of training depending on their personal demand. A special high-light was the PrintMedia Seminar in Heidelberg and the visit of the printing exhibition Druck and Form among other excurions. Many former participants now have managerial jobs in their companies and use the training as a „springboard“ for their further career.

Schützenfest
July 2016

Besides exams, graduation and traditional baptizing of printing students, extra-curricular activities are part of the Hauchler-year. One of the main events in Biberach is the Biberach Schuetzenfest, a historical children’s and historical festival with historical parades, theatre, dances and other events that is taking place each year in July with a duration of 12 days. It is already a tradition that the Hauchler students help with the production of posters and brochures for this extra-ordinary event of their host town. That’s why the mayor of town and the Hauchler-family invites the International student to the town hall and to sit on the parade’s highstand to learn about the whole 900 years of history of their host town Biberach. Family Hauchler with their children takes it for granted to translate all that is happening at Schuetzenfest to their students on the high-stands. So after having learnt with the family Hauchler about Christmas and Easter customs, the school year ends also with a nice custom of traditional historical event within a private family basis.

Hauchler Studio completely renovated
June 2015

Former students won’t recognized their old school in Biberach any more: During last school year the beautiful old “Hauchler-castle” has been undertaken a complete reconstruction. After the media technique is updated the year before, this was the biggest investment since the 80s when we added an additional print and prepress department with the Heidelberg Speedmaster as well as Polar Mohr machines for Offset printing and computer rooms – former students of the 80s still remember that.
The renovation has started already in 2014 with a new isolated roof and windows as well as a new heating device – you remember our cold German winters? Fortunately, the old beautiful church glass windows could be renovated as well and fit in beautifully in our 70 year old school building. Besides, all illumination as well as student’s sanitary units have been renewed as well. Due to German law, a security concept was included with an additional staircase towards the back of the garden and an emergency concept together with the local fire brigade was added. Our new school yard behind the school with seats for the school breaks has already been used frequently by the students. The most visible change though is the entrance situation of the school: Next to our school tower to the student’s office, we are in the moment building a modern entrance with sitting lounge in front of the school and in the tower.
Dear former students: You are welcome to visit us and admire the change of your old school.

Octoberfest at Hauchler Studio
November 2012

The Octoberfest 2012 at Hauchler Studio was enjoyed very much by our Print International course. Traditional dances by the students mostly wearing Dirndl and Lederhosn, the traditional Bavarian clothes, were shown at a dance competition. For food students could taste the famous Bavarian sausages with sweet mustard, alcoholfree Bavarian beer was served during school breaks.  Together with management assistant Regine Sproll they posed in front of a picture of the Alpes that are only 1 hour by car away from the location of school. Before the Octoberfest-party at school they have visited the „real“ Octoberfest in Munich.

October 2012

Printing managers are supposed to be able to decide upon the investment on machines and other printing equipment. Excursions to exhibitions  and plant visits are part of he Print International program in Hauchler Studio, the private German Printing School in Biberach. The School year 2012/2013 began with a first highlight: the excursion to the printing exhibition Druck und Form in Sinsheim. After arrival at the exhibition with a warm welcome at the information stand with Mrs Hauchler, the tour started at information points at the exhibition. The exhibition Druck + Form 2012, 5 months after the famous  DRUPA exhibition, is showing where the printing industry is moving to. In comparison to DRUPA, it is smaller with the possibility to go to the stands and get the technology behind the machine explained – important for the managers of the future studying at Hauchler Studio. Print International students
baptized as disciples of Gutenberg

August 2012

According to a medieval German tradition, this year’s students from India and Singapore were „baptized as disciples of Gutenberg”, the inventor of the art of printing after having graduated from the unique private school for printing, media and paper-converting in Biberach, Southern Germany.

Price-winner of the Offset Operating course 2012 was Ajay Dhanasekaran from India with extraordinary results. A special high-light was the PrintMedia Seminar in Heidelberg and the visit of DRUPA in May 2012. Many former participants now have managerial jobs in their companies and use the training as a „springboard“ for their further career.

PrintInternational at Schuetzenfest in Biberach
July 2012

- this includes 190.000 International visitors, especially from India and other Asian countries, Europe, USA and Arabic countries.

DRUPA 2012 has sent out key impulses for the worldwide print and media industry. The most important signal: print has potential and the sector is investing heavily in its future.

It is certainly a must for Hauchler Studio as the famous International
German school for Print and Media to have a DRUPA information stand close to the German association of printers, the German association of printing managers and the printing universities. Due to the Internationalisation of DRUPA information about vocational studies in Print and Media as well as Printing Management was given to many foreign prospective students for the International courses Print International conducted in English. Moreover questions about the German upgrading courses such as Media Engineering and Master of Printing, the apprenticeships Media Designer and Printer as well as Graphic Designer were answered by head of school Daniela Hauchler, her husband Hans-Peter Koenig as well as assistant Regine Sproll.

Furthermore, the HAUCHLER-stand was popular meeting point for former students who came to talk in remembrance of  the "old Biberach school days", their former teachers and there where-abouts.  The oldest student visiting the DRUPA stand visited Hauchler Studio as early as 1953-1956! Another possibility to meet other former students was the tradition of a former students party that takes place at the second weekend of each DRUPA since the 80s where former students celebrated together till late night .

All in all: DRUPA 2012 was a success across the board and we are looking forward to meet you at the next  <http://www.drupa.de> DRUPA 2016 from 2.-15. June 2016.
Attention: The next former student party in Duesseldorf is planned
